The SES is a volunteer organisation, and can't run without dedicated people who are willing to assist the community at any time of the day or night. We operate under the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.

The Melville SES members train in many skills, including:

    • Chainsaw Operating

    • 4WD drive onroad & offroad

    • Storm Damage Repair

    • Storm Water Repair & Mitigation

    • Structural Damage (cars vs house)

    • Search

    • First Aid

    • Ropes & Knots

    • Map & Navigation

    • Communications

    • Operations

    • Fire support operations

We meet on Tuesday evenings for training, but some weekends and other times will be used for courses from time to time, and not necessarily at the unit HQ in Murdoch.
